    Hey Jeremy,

Thanks for your comment on my website and leading me to yours. If you are anti-Bush, as you are, I think you will really love a website called truthout.org (or com — I’m not sure). YOu might want to add it to your site references alongside aclu (plus moveon.org is an activist leftist organization with which you probably are familiar.) I like your site, it’s got a lot of information that is very worthwhile for all of us. I have been trying to work out a new article for my site about the demise of the middle class — or the purposeful demise of the middle class by the upper class lately. I’m not into conspiracy theories, but a few things are gelling together related to money (since that’s my area) that are leading me to believe that there is an effort afoot to insure that the middle class not get too far ahead — ala France during the French Revolution. The way our tax system is structured as well as the whole mortgage debacle, and the deliberate effort on the part of the Federal government to insure that the wealthy stay that way and the rest of us only think we have a shot at it are coming together in some way of which I am not yet aware. One thing I have noticed though is that whenever Bush talks, he seems to have the oil companies and the big banks and big Pharma and big business generally all in his ear. He has no compassion for anyone else and is dangerously destroying the backbone of this country. So, thanks for a site that looks at political issues from a consumer perspective. After all, it’s all about the benjamins in the end.

You’re right about that. I am focusing entirely on the “normal guy” because I think that’s who gets left out in all of this. Also, for my official stance on our “president”, check out this link.

Found this site from your /. post. I had no idea about the SSN-freeze thing, thanks for that. Your site is informative and well-written. Rock on.

    Thanks!

    @ Karney:

It sounds like spam, but you look totally legit and you actually have something useful so you get a pass. You should post that in an appropriate article somewhere. I’m sure I had one about overdrafts and such somewhere… Hmm. Maybe I need to write one…

    Hello Jeremy

Would you happen to know who the contact person is when making a complaint to Comcast? I have a serious ongoing issue with them and I am trying to figure out “who” the contact person is. Would you happen to have access to this information. THanks for your help.

    Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for your pointer to the great Unlocker program. Googling “force delete” brought me to your site. While browsing the site, I bumped into your recommendation for “The Five Love Languages.” I did a preview of it at Amazon.com and realized that the book has a lot of good, practical, useful points. I’m planning to buy a copy. Best wishes to you!

Is there someone out the that can do something about the credit card companies? My husband and I have pretty decent credit and got a late charge from Aol Chase which was 1 day late, I didn’t realize after making a payment that my statement would be due again in 20 days. Needless to say, a rate for 4.99 jumped to 29.99 and a late charge which is also reported to the credit bureau which effects your credit score for 2 years.
I think the government needs to do something to these blood sucking credit card companies that are taking advantage of the American Comsumer.
    Thanks

    Mrs.C

  11. Jeremy Says:

When I have a problem with a CC company, I usually just call them and ask them to reverse the charges as a matter of customer service due to an honest mistake. I’ve had good luck with that.

As for a more permenant solution, sure, there are lots agencies and regulatory boards, but I think the real problem lies with lawmakers that are playing to the big businesses for financial reasons. Most of fixing this is about visibility. If lawmakers are made aware of this, people know that they know about it, and they can see wether the lawmakers actually do anything about it, then things will get done.

In other words, the lawmakers are the ones who are allowing this to happen and there’s currently little to no accountability since it’s too hard for people to track what politicians say and what they actually do. I plan to implement a web system to fix that problem, but I have no idea when or how I will ever get the time and resources to pull such a thing off.

The same goes for any of your readers.

    Thank you for your time,

    Jeremy:

I read your interesting position article on LifeLock and I think you raise some very valid points. In fact, I agree so strongly with some of those points that I actually filed a class action lawsuit against LifeLock last Friday in the State of New Jersey.

I am an attorney with the law firm Marks & Klein, LLP and we handle many large scale cases on behalf of consumers throughout the country. Presently, I am looking to file additional actions against LifeLock in other states. To that end, if you know anyone who signed up, or if you are interested in reading a copy of my complaint, contact me at the email address I have provided and I would be happy to correspond with you.

    Best Regards,

    David Paris

Jeremy, I dont know where to turn so I thought I’d write you. I have a small travel trailer that is finaced though one of the major banks. We have changed our home address to another state. The DMV from the new state ( South Dakota) has requested a certified copy of the title four times so we can get new tags and we have call numerous times with no response. What do you think would happen if I just called the bank and told them to come pick it up or drop it in there parking lot. At pesent I am curent on payments and insurance but its of no value to me with dead tags. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Steve
